Why the NRA is Wrong About Armed Guards in Schools

In light of the Newtown shooting, I was moved to write an article on Wayne LaPierre–the spokesperson for the NRA and his interview on Meet the Press.  In this article, I attempt to dispel the information that he uses to make his case that installing more armed guards in schools will help to protect our youngsters.

The Grinch Could Learn a Thing or Two (from Greek Austerity)

This will be a short post.

This is an article I wrote on the topic of Christmas and how the Greeks have fared, despite oppressive austerity measures.  It’s inspiring, sad and hopeful. Scary that due to the oil-heating crisis, people have to choose between the essentials (food/rent) and heating oil.

I also kick men in the shins when they try to hold the door for me

I really like this blog post. I think it speaks to the problem that exists between the two genders nowadays. I think guys should open the doors for people and that those same people should accept it and not act all huffy/puffy about being all ‘independent’. If you look at it through an angle of respect, rather than dominating or hierarchical–then that might change one’s point of view. Incidentally, I think manners is something that’s sorely lacking in today’s society. That’s why I have a soft spot for old movies (film noire). I should write a post about that one day.
